RALEIGH, N.C. — A state lawmaker will testify to a federal grand jury about the substance abuse program run by former U.S. Rep. Frank Ballance.
Senate President Pro Tem Marc Basnight was subpoenaed to talk about the misuse of state money by the John A. Hyman Memorial Youth Foundation. He will go in front of the jury either Wednesday or Thursday.
Ballance pleaded guilty earlier in November to a federal conspiracy charge related to using foundation money for personal purposes.
