KINSTON, N.C. — The sound of gunfire was enough to shut down part of Kinston Saturday night.
Employees at the Hampton Inn said they heard gunfire and breaking glass at about 9 p.m.
Police evacuated the hotel and put others in the area on lockdown. The Highway Patrol even blocked part of Highway 70.
SWAT teams went room-to-room but found nothing. Hotel guests were allowed back at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday.
The investigation is ongoing.
