Two Charged With Setting Durham Apartment Fire

Posted Updated

DURHAM, N.C. — Two 19-year-old women are charged with setting fire to a Durham apartment complex Saturday night.

Tuesday night, Durham police arrested Krystal Craven and charged her with first-degree arson in the fire at Wellington Place Apartments. She is being held in the Durham County Jail on $35,000 bond.

Police arrested Natasha Horton earlier in the day.

The fire started in one unit and spread to 14 others.

The tenant of the apartment where the fire started said an ex-girlfriend left derogatory messages written in lipstick on his car. However, investigators will not say if there is a connection between that and the fire.
