Exploris Gets Early Funding For Operating Costs

RALEIGH, N.C. — Exploris is getting an early boost.

County commissioners agreed to give the museum $543,000 right away for operating costs.

The money was already earmarked for the 2004-2005 fiscal year, but the museum asked to get the money immediately.

The struggling museum has been under the microscope. In September, county commissioners agreed to keep a closer watch on the museum's progress. Exploris leaders agreed to improve exhibits, reduce debt and raise private money.
