DURHAM, N.C. — Authorities arrested a man they believe was involved in a bank robbery in Durham.
Raymond J. Callaway, 36, was arrested Thursday morning after a chase in Holmes and Walton counties in the Florida Panhandle.
Callaway was charged Tuesday with the Nov. 5 robbery of Central Carolina Bank on Hillandale Road. Police said Callaway approached a teller's window and handed the teller a note demanding money in certain denominations.
Police said no weapon was seen and Callaway fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect ran out of the bank and got into a tan Mazda SE-5 pickup truck, which was last seen heading toward Croasdaile Drive.
Callaway was identified as a result of tips to Durham CrimeStoppers. He is being held in Florida, pending extradition back to Durham.
