RALEIGH, N.C. — The Wake County School Board has approved calendars for the next two school years. Make-up days could cut into vacation time for students.
Make-up days for traditional calendar students include the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, a day from winter break and a day from spring break.
A new law that delays the start of the school year cut teacher work days, leaving school leaders with fewer options for make-up days.
The school board also approved a location plan for new mobile classrooms.
The school system will add 146 mobile classrooms to existing schools including a modular wing for Wakefield High School.
One modular elementary would be built on school-owned land in Wendell.
