RALEIGH, N.C. — Prosecutors in the Matthew Grant trial focused Tuesday on what he told police about the February 2004 shooting death of Wake County Deputy Mark Tucker.
Jurors were able to see the single-barrel shotgun used to kill Tucker. The weapon had been buried in a wooded area in Morrisville two days after the crime. Crime scene investigator Bryan Cauley said it was wrapped in plastic garbage bags.
Jurors also saw shotgun shells found in a Dumpster on Kildaire Farm Road in Cary. Authorities said Grant told them about the location of the shells after his arrest.
Defense attorneys could start presenting their case on Wednesday.
