CARY, N.C. — A plan for green space has tempers running red hot in Cary.
The town wants to widen and extend an existing greenway along Lochmere Drive.
Many Lochmere residents do not want an 8-foot-wide greenway.
They worry the changes will mean too many people running through their neighborhood.
"They keep saying this will be for the whole city to use, but most people don't like to have a quiet neighborhood become a thoroughfare," resident Shieshin Wu said.
Town planners said they will not push the issue if citizens are against the proposal.
They hope to have a new plan assembled by the end of the year.
