RALEIGH, N.C. — The state Department of Transportation will temporarily close Wilmington Street in Raleigh from Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard to City Farm Road beginning at 7 p.m. on Monday.
The closure will be in place until 6 a.m., Tuesday, November 2.
During construction, the following detours will be in place:
Motorists traveling south on Wilmington Street should turn left onto Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, then right onto Blount Street, then right onto Rush Street, back to Wilmington Street.
Motorists traveling north on Wilmington Street should turn right onto City Farm Road, then right onto Hoke Street, then left onto Person Street, then left onto Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, back to Wilmington Street.
The closing is necessary to replace the Wilmington Street Bridge.
Motorists are reminded to stay alert and drive with caution. Watch signs for construction information and obey the posted speed limit in the work zone.
