Early Voting Setting Records In N.C.

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Election officials in North Carolina expect more than 1 million people to have voted by Saturday, the day early voting ends.

In 2000, just over 394,000 people cast early ballots.

Some election workers on Glenwood Avenue in Raleigh said they have not had a break in the line since early voting started a week ago.

Gary Bartlett, of the state Board of Elections, says he expects an overall voter turnout of around 66 percent.
