Cary Hopes Neon Lights Attract Shoppers

CARY, N.C. — Cary will soon be a little brighter.

The Town Council voted 5 to 1 on Thursday to lift the ban on neon signs in the Town Center business district.

Business owners say the bright advertising will attract shoppers to the struggling area. The ordinance is effective immediately.

Cary also passed an ordinance allowing homeowners selling a house to put out "open house" signs.

The Town Council is allowing the option for a limited time before deciding if they want to make it permanent.
