RALEIGH, N.C. — The last ride may not have been moved off the Midway and the smell of pizza and funnel cake lingers in the air, but fair organizers are already planning for 2005.
Next year, fairgoers will see an entirely new layout for the fairgrounds. Some changes began this year with the addition of the expanded Midway space in the infield of the grandstand.
Next year, the main Midway will finish its move to the area to make way for a new 50,000-square-foot multi-purpose building. During the State Fair, that building will be used for agricultural exhibits such as the horticulture competitions.
It will be the first new building at the fairgrounds since the Hunt Horse Complex was completed in 1983.
