State Agriculture Commissioner Britt Cobb said he is negotiating with the Atlantic Coast Conference to not schedule N.C. State games during the State Fair.
"I have asked Johnny Swofford, the commissioner of the Atlantic Coast Conference, to please take it into consideration. He and I were classmates, so hopefully, we can get in to talk to him in the next couple of weeks so this will not happen again," he said.
Cobb's opponent in the agriculture commisisioner's race, Steve Troxler, said if elected, he would not ask N.C. State to change. He said during fair/game conflicts, he would "try to bring in large groups of people from remote sites using rail service."
The ACC has not yet responded to commissioner Cobb's request. Conference officials will set next year's football schedule in the next few weeks.
