RALEIGH, N.C. — The North Carolina State Fair posted its second largest attendance in its history with a total of 836,319 people visiting during its run.

"We're extremely pleased we had a safe fair and that people seemed to enjoy themselves. That's the true benchmark for what we term a successful fair. Strong attendance is a nice bonus," said State Fair Manager Wesley Wyatt.

Entertainment included three sold out shows, including two Clay Aiken shows on Monday and the Mercy Me concert on Friday. Other concerts included Josh Turner, Four Tops, Rhonda Vincent with Ralph Stanley, Kimberley Locke, Gary Allan and Lonestar.

Reithoffer Shows made its first N.C. State Fair appearance by bringing the largest Midway ever with 102 rides.

The Midway, which was divided into three areas, Kiddieland, the new expanded Midway and the traditional Midway, provided more space to accommodate riders.
