DURHAM, N.C. — Hillside High School was supposed to face East Chapel Hill School Friday night in Durham, but officials have decided to postpone the game due to safety concerns.
Hillside principal Eunice Sanders said after school was dismissed around 2:30 p.m. Friday, a group of Hillside students got into a confrontation with other students who were not enrolled in the school. No one was arrested in the incident involving seven students.
"The safety of students is our top priority. We are concerned that the actions of some students could disrupt the enjoyment of others so we are postponing tonight's football game," Sanders said.
Sanders said the game will be rescheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday. Extra security will be on hand and everyone is allowed to attend.
It marks the second game in recent weeks that had to be postponed due to problems with safety. A
game
between Goldsboro High School and Eastern Wayne High School was canceled on Oct. 15 due to the potential threat of violence.
