RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police are looking for a man who robbed a bank Friday and then fled on a bicycle.

At about 9:50 a.m. Friday, a man brandishing a silver colored semiautomatic handgun entered the SouthTrust bank at 7541 Creedmoor Road, police said.

After taking money from three tellers, the suspect fled the bank on a mountain bike. As he was riding away, a dye pack concealed in the money exploded, and the suspect may have been marked by red dye.

Police describe the suspect as a black male, possibly in his 30s, between 6 feet and 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing between 200 and 225 pounds. He wore gloves, a black ski mask, and a light colored short-sleeve shirt over a black long-sleeve sweatshirt which had the number 3 on the elbow.

The N.C. Highway Patrol and the Wake Sheriff's Office assisted in the search for the suspect, who has not been apprehended.

Anyone with information that might be helpful to investigators is asked to call the Raleigh Police Department's Detective Division at (919) 890-3555, Crime Stoppers at (919) 226-2746 (226-CRIME), or the FBI at (919) 233-7701.
