Kenly, N.C. — A Johnston County mother had the scare of her life when the SUV she was driving Tuesday flipped while her children were in the back seat.
It happened Tuesday on a wet bridge on Old Dam Road between Kenly and Selma.
Ana Contreras Patino says she hydroplaned, lost control of her car, flipped over a guardrail and ended up just a few feet from going into the Little River.
Her 5-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son were buckled into the back seat. The boy suffered some cuts but they were not serious. The girl barely had a scratch.
Patino's mother, however, did break her ankle, and Patino needed seven stitches for a cut.
Patino says she believes an angel was watching over them.
"I'm more surprised than anybody at how we were able to survive," she said.

too bad you can't get a ticket for being inconsiderate. How do you know she was speeding, and in storms that pop up like this, what do you expect the road conditions to be like ....that's why they are called flash floods
