Two Killed In Unrelated Traffic Accidents In Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Two people were killed in two separate, unrelated wrecks in Fayetteville Tuesday night.

The first, a hit and run, happened at Raeford Road and Ravenhill Drive at 7:30 p.m. when a car hit a motorcyclist. The person on the motorcycle was killed. The person believed to be the driver of the car was eventually caught by police and is being questioned.

Police have not released the name of the motorcyclist who died.

Later Tuesday night at 8:15 p.m., just a few miles down the road at Hope Mills Drive, another car struck and killed a pedestrian.

Police say the victim, David Stanley Powers, 49, of Montclair Road, Fayetteville, was crossing Raeford Road.

So far, no charges have been filed, against the driver, Donald Earl Barnes, 33, of Exeter Drive, Fayetteville.
