Franklin County deputies say a man was shot and killed by his great-grandsons during a robbery.

According to authorities, Samuel Burt's great-grandsons robbed him and then killed him in the process. A live-in companion found Burt lying face-down on the floor of his Schloss Road home Monday afternoon.

Deputies arrested Dartez Yarborough, 16, and Patrick Yarborough, 18, Monday evening. They have been charged with robbery and first-degree murder in connection with Burt’s death. Both teens lived a few houses away from their great-grandfather.

Sheriff Pat Green said that Patrick Yarborough is suspected of having stolen Burt’s wallet a few weeks ago. Authorities said the teens stole less than $100 from their great-grandfather during Monday’s robbery.

The apparent murder weapon was found inside Burt’s home, said deputies. Both teens are being held without bail.

Rope ! Just a little bit of Rope !

Both boys are 16 or above, therefore considered adults in North Carolina. The 18 year old is eligible for the death sentence, the 16 year old is eligible for a life sentence.

To bad they can't be sentenced to death. The smirk on the faces tell all. Being teenagers, they will be free at 21 and their great grandfather will be in his grave. Let's quit coddling kids and give them meaningful sentences.

How sad that an elderly man would have to die from the hands of his own family. this is so distrubing, to kill a man, your own great grandfather of what little money he had. How, senseless.
