Proposed Developments Could Triple Pittsboro's Population

Posted Updated

PITTSBORO, N.C. — The small town of Pittsboro could be in for a major growth spurt.

Two proposed developments would nearly triple the Chatham County town's population over the next decade.

River Oaks would sit on nearly 800 acres near the intersection of U.S. 64 and 15-501. The development would bring more than 1,500 homes to the area.

Powell Place will add 900 homes southwest of the U.S. 64 Bypass and 15-501.

Town commissioners have already approved the master plan for Powell Place.

A public hearing date will be set for River Oaks next week.
