RALEIGH, N.C. — A man wanted by authorities for the shooting of a girl has turned himself in to authorities.
On Tuesday, the Raleigh Police Department arrested Marcus Rashad Owens. The arrest stems from a shooting incident at 3011 Boone Trail, in which 7-year-old Melissa Torres was injured.
Police say Torres was in her bedroom shortly after 10 p.m. Wednesday when a bullet fired from a vehicle entered the residence and struck her. Her parents heard her scream and discovered she had been shot.
Torres was transported to WakeMed for medical treatment.
Owens is charged with one count of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and one count of discharging a firearm into an occupied property.
