A 49-year-old Chapel Hill woman was killed Thursday morning when she was pinned in her car door as the vehicle struck, police said.

Stephanie Marcheschi of 8514 Seawell School Road opened the door of her minivan and leaned out while it was running and in gear shortly after 7 a.m., police said. The minivan ran off her driveway to the left and struck a tree, and she was pinned between the door and body of the vehicle, police said.

My heart goes out to the family of Ms. Marcheschi. You will all be in my prayers and my thoughts.

"Ianswagerty" - I feel your comment was sincere and from the heart. The world needs more people like you.

gim59 and 2amanda2, what is wrong w/you??? Criticizing a persons warm, empathetic comment?? This isn't English class! Ianswaggerty NEVER said he/she is a teacher, now did he/she? Shame on you, both of you.

Back to the point.. Again, my deepest sympathy to the Marcheschi family.

I am a sophmore at CHHS and i have known this womans son since 7th grade. his mother was one of the nicest people i have ever known. I thought of her as a 2nd mom. i know alex and his sister are going through a hard time. there are in my prayers and Mrs. Marcheschi is a big loss for me and many others. God Bless her family and friends!

I am a sophmore at CHHS, and Alex Marcheschi, her son, is one of my best friends. I cannot imagine what he must be going through. Alex is a fun, smart person and does not deserve to lose his mother like this. I hope that i can help him get through this tough time.
