Franklin Deputy Involved In Helicopter Crash Off Job

FRANKLIN COUNTY, N.C. — A Franklin County sheriff's deputy involved in a helicopter crash is now officially off the job.

Ben Barrick left the department shortly after the May crash that killed fellow deputy Ted Horton.

The sheriff recently fired Barrick when he did not meet state certification requirements.

Despite the decision, the ex-deputy continues to receive worker's compensation from Franklin County.
