A proposal for an athletic stadium in Raleigh that St. Augustine's College and Shaw University would share is on shaky financial ground.

The original site was at Rock Quarry Road and Interstate 440, where a flea market is now. However, there is now concern the property does not have 50 acres of land that could be developed at a profit to offset costs.

Raleigh leaders originally thought the project would cost $15 million to $20 million. The estimate is now $35 million.

Mayor Charles Meeker said other funding would have to be located in order for the project to go forward.

Since it is a private, produminately black school, How about the NAACP, thay are supposed to help the advancement of colored people, at least that's what I hear. Usually they just try to make the problem worse though

the raleigh city council members all ride the short bus to work. they should never even considered building a stadium for a private school. the council never thinks about anything other than what happened yestereday. no foresight and planning ever on anything.

them being poor is not my problem

comparing Shaw, augustines and Duke is comparing apples to apples, all are private schools. comparing those schools to NCSU is like comparing apples to oranges, or do you not understand what the saying "compare apples to apples" means

How about these apples?

Duke, Shaw and St. Augs are all private colleges. No private college should get public funds to build a sports facility.
