Lacrosse Player's D.C. Conviction Erased
Durham, N.C. — An assault conviction in Washington, D.C., against a Duke University lacrosse player indicted in a sex assault case has been expunged, authorities said.
Collin Finnerty, 19, of Garden City, N.Y., was convicted in July of misdemeanor assault and sentenced to six months of probation in connection with an attack on two bar patrons in November 2005.
Finnerty, Reade Seligmann and David Evans had been charged with kidnapping and sexual offense after a 28-year-old North Carolina Central University student told police she was attacked by three lacrosse players at a March 13 team party, where she was performing as a stripper.
Judge John Bayly had agreed to dismiss the Washington assault charge once Finnerty completed his probation.
