<b>DURHAM, N.C.</b> — The Durham Board of County Commissioners approved a resolution in support of renaming N.C. 147 to Innovation Highway.

The CEO of Capitol Broadcasting, which is heading up the American Tobacco Project, made the request.

Jim Goodmon says the new name would better capture the spirit of N.C. 147, since it links more than 100 businesses and two universities.

The Durham City Council will need to approve a similar resolution. Both will be submitted to the Department of Transportation.

Capitol Broadcasting is the parent company of WRAL-TV.
