Mayor Continues Fight Against Predatory Towing

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh's mayor is taking new steps in the fight against predatory towing.

Mayor Charles Meeker wants towing companies to report where they are towing from and how often. He believes it is the only way to judge whether towing has decreased downtown.

The city attorney is looking into whether that request is legal.

Last month, the city council turned down Meeker's proposal to ban overnight towing.

Some council members want to see if two new city parking lots would help the problem.
