Old Pipe Bombs Discovered At Dunn Home

Posted September 7, 2004

— Old explosives made for some tense moments in a Harnett County neighborhood Sunday.

A man cleaning near a shed at a home he rents off Jonesboro Road in Dunn found what he thought were homemade pipe bombs around 4 p.m.

A Harnett County Sheriff's deputy confirmed the find and a Fort Bragg bomb squad was called in as a precaution.

The bomb squad determined the pipe bombs had been there awhile and were not dangerous.

Investigators are now trying to track down previous renters to find out who is responsible.
