Sanford Cemetery Owner Headed To Prison

SANFORD, N.C. — A man involved in a cemetery scam is headed to prison for something else.

Derek Roberts will spend the next two years in prison for pretending to be a Homeland Security officer.

He has been under investigation involving the Lee Memory Gardens cemetery in Sanford. The cemetery went bankrupt in 2002.

Customers said they did not get merchandise they were promised. No charges are filed in that case.
