Crews have cleared the scene of an accident involving a truck carrying 4,200 chickens in Chatham County.

The accident happened at around 1:30 a.m. Monday on U.S. Highway 421 near Goldston. According to the Highway Patrol, the driver fell asleep and wrecked the vehicle. No one was hurt.

The northbound lanes of U.S. 421 had to be shut down for authorities to remove the overturned truck. Another truck had to be brought in to put the chickens on.

Troopers said the driver was on the way to a poultry plant in Siler City. Crews were able to reopen the roadway shortly after 7 a.m.

A crew from PETA is enroute to the scene.

Only one of the chickens has been identified so far...they match the description of the parent at Disney world who is suing tigger.

Why did the chicken cross the road? Because the truck crashed.

There,s going to be fried chicken to night honey.
