Paratrooper Killed; 25 Injured In Training Accident At Fort Bragg

One paratrooper was killed and 25 paratroopers were injured in a single-vehicle accident at the corner of Lamont and Longstreet roads Thursday.

The accident involved a light medium tactical vehicle assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division's

505th Parachute Infantry Regiment

.

One paratrooper was pronounced dead upon arrival at Womack Army Medical Center. The victim's name is being withheld pending next-of-kin notification.

One paratrooper was airlifted to University of North Carolina Hospitals in Chapel Hill and one paratrooper was airlifted to Cape Fear Regional Medical Facility for treatment. The remaining paratroopers were taken to Womack Army Medical Center for treatment.

The accident is currently under investigation.
