Downtown Raleigh Community Aims To Weed Out Crime

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — A new effort to rid communities of crime is sprouting in downtown Raleigh.

The federal government is footing the bill for Operation Weed and Seed.

"We're just trying to clean up southeast Raleigh and we're doing it with minimal resources. Thanks to Weed and Seed it will help us," community leader George Pringle said.

Community leaders and officials gathered Thursday at the Martin Street Baptist Church, located in the target area.

Raleigh will receive up to $175,000 for the project.
