print friendly

North and southbound lanes of U.S. 421, located south of Siler City, have reopened after an early morning wreck.

The Highway Patrol says the wreck involving a chicken truck and a red Buick happened at 1:55 a.m Tuesday.

Two people in the tractor-trailer -- David and Wanda McBride of Jasper, Ga. -- were killed.

The driver of the Buick and two passengers were transported to local hospitals. Their conditions are not known.

Investigators believe the car caused the accident.

U.S. 421 was closed for most of the day while crews responded to the scene. Crews reopened to traffic shortly before 4 p.m.
