Sherri and Davis Norris became the parents of quadruplets on May 11, and now the parents are adjusting to a demanding life at home with the babies freed from hospital care, growing quickly.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh residents Sherri and David Norris have found life frantic with their rapidly growing quadruplets who were born on May 11.

But they insist they wouldn’t have life any other way.

"Between making bottles and formula and doing the laundry and keeping the house clean and getting everyone set and changed, there’s always something to do," Sherri Norris said Wednesday.

As one baby cries, another fusses. Both parents shuffle back and forth, dealing with the tasks of parenthood four times over.

A quad birth was not on Norrises' minds initially.

The couple underwent in-vitro fertilization, and Sherri Norris had two embryos implanted in her uterus.

But, as the pregnancy progressed, an ultrasound revealed that the twins they were expecting had doubled.

Two embryos became four fetuses.

Under the demands, "I don’t even know what day it is," the father acknowledged.

Far from the small babies kept in a hospital for a month following their birth, each of the four now weigh between 8 and 9 pounds. They also are developing their own personalities.

"She grunts all the time," Sherri Norris said of baby Bella.

"She’s our little squeaker, that’s for sure," her husband added.

Then there is Addison, who can scream when she wants something.

Logan is laid back.

Jase is "the serious one," Sherri Norris said.

As for their growing size – so are their needs. The four consume nearly a gallon of formula a day while going through a combined total of 32 diapers.

Sherri Norris does receive almost-daily help from her mother, but the demands remain high.

"I don’t have sympathy for people with one baby," she said with a laugh. "The sleep deprivation can’t be anything like it is with four."

But added David Norris: "It’s just, you want to get frustrated. But you love them so much, it just gets you through, you know?"
