Fayetteville Councilor Wants To End Annexation Plans

Posted Updated

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A Fayetteville politician wants the city to drop its annexation plans.

Councilman Paul Williams said the battle to take over part of Cumberland County is a waste of money.

The city was supposed to annex 42,000 people in June, but the courts put the plans on hold.

The state Court of Appeals is expected to rule on the case next, but no date had been set.

Meanwhile, city leaders say they are losing millions of dollars.
