WAKE COUNTY, N.C. — Day-care centers close to the Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant are getting some help from the state in case of an attack or accident at a nuclear power plant.

The state health department is distributing potassium iodide pills to several day cares in Wake and Chatham counties.

The pills offer protection from radiation.

Day cares within a 10-mile zone around the nuclear plant will get the pills.
