FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Investigators are now inspecting every sprinkler at the Cumberland County jail.
Some fire sprinklers have been plugged, which is a violation of state code.
A former employee at the jail said he was told to plug the sprinklers because inmates were breaking off the sprinkler heads and flooding their cells.
The sheriff's office has launched an investigation.
