Cary Wants To Remove Trees Intruding On Sewer Lines

Posted Updated

CARY, N.C. — Some Cary homeowners are being greeted by a notice on their door.

The town Public Works Department has stepped up its inspection of sewer easements. Any trees whose roots may intrude on sewer lines need to be chopped down. The town will pay for it.

Last year, officials said there were 15 sewer overflows, many of which were caused by tree roots.

The town will pay for tree removal, but it will not cover the costs for changes to fences or sheds that may be in the way.
