DURHAM, N.C. — A multivehicle accident caused traffic problems on the northbound lanes on Interstate 85 in Durham.
Authorities said four tractor-trailers were involved in a chain-reaction accident shortly before 11 a.m. at mile marker 177 near the Roxboro Road exit. Police say the driver of a sport utility vehicle tried to merge into a lane occupied by a tractor-trailer and that caused the accident.
Some kind of liquid spilled out of one of the tractor-trailers, but crews were able to contain the spill. There is no word about possible injuries.
Northbound lanes were closed for about 30 minutes. It took three hours to clear the scene.
