e-mail print friendly
A Rocky Mount man will spend at least 10 years in prison for mistakenly shooting and killing his mother, authorities said.

Brandon Terrell Norwood, 20, was arguing with his mother's boyfriend a year ago outside the family's Rocky Mount home and took a shot at him with a handgun, authorities said. Norwood missed the man, and the bullet struck and killed 40-year-old Barbara Davis, authorities said.

Norwood pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the case. He originally was charged with first-degree murder.

I'm sure moms proud of her little boy.

10 years seems like alot but it was attempted murder for the fact that he tried to shoot the boyfriend and manslaughter for killing his mother without intent.

Because getting shot at is not as wrong as doing the shooting.

How is it this guy gets 10 years and the other guy gets a 7 years?
