print friendly

A little boy was recovering Saturday from a freak accident involving a police car.

It happened in Laurinburg, at the corner of Old Lumberton Road and Alpha Street about 6 p.m. Friday.

The 5-year old was riding his tricycle in his driveway when a police officer chasing a speeding motorcycle crashed into him.

Witnesses said the officer lost control at a dangerous curve.

Police said the motorcycle was going about 80 in a 35-mile per hour zone. The motorcycle driver got away.

Meanwhile, the boy's injuries are not life-threatening. He should be released from the hospital Sunday.
