<b>RALEIGH, N.C.</b> — The state is getting tougher on the people who deal with a very dangerous drug.

Gov. Mike Easley signed a bill into law Tuesday that strengthens penalites against the makers of methamphetamine.

Police have long complained soon after they break up a meth lab, the people involved are back at it within days.

The new bill will send manufacturers to prison for at least five years. It also imposes harsher penalties when children are exposed to the toxic chemicals.
