JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. — Johnston County parents can no longer charge their children's lunches at school.
The new policy takes effect this school year after a mishap at the Princeton school cafeteria during the last week of school.
Students who owed money had their hot lunches taken away and thrown in the trash.
The school was trying to clear up outstanding debts. Information about the county-wide policy will be sent to parents in the mail.
