Wake County sheriff's deputies are looking for a man responsible for shooting a convenience store employee in the neck during a robbery Thursday night.

Hardee Parrish, who owns Hardee's Food Mart on Penny Road in southwest Raleigh, said that the shooter approached clerk Jerry Fuquay as he was closing the store around 9 p.m., stole a bank bag and shot him.

Neighbors near the store said they heard gunshots and that the robber was wearing a mask.

Authorities have not confirmed the report and have not released any other details about the case.

Fuquay, who has worked at the store for 25 years, was listed in good condition at a local hospital Friday afternoon.

"He's an outstanding person, as far as I'm concerned," Thomas Fann, who has lived next to the store for 18 years, said Friday. "I don't know why somebody would actually shoot him."

I also walked down there last night and there were NO RPD. Only Wake Country sheriffs office and the Highway Patrol.

I live three houses down from this store. It is not city limits. I burn brush weekly with no problem. I also target shoot. I have had the police come out and again they confirmed I am NOT in city limits. I can shoot my pistol as long as I am a safe distance from neighbors homes and I am shooting in a responsible manner.

And he probably didn't return fire because he got shot in the dang neck. Are you going to hold your neck or return fire?

Grenade: I have no idea. I live between that store and Raleigh and often burn brush unless there is a burn ban. I guarantee that RFD is not coming to ANY fire (brush or house) in the county unless assistance is requested by Swift Creek (Volunteer) Fire Department.

Your neighbors were told wrong.

why didnt he return fire??

UNC PH.d ~ tsk, tsk, you know there isn't enough money to pay out all the winners.
