Juvenile Charged With Durham Shooting

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police investigators have charged a 15-year-old juvenile with murder in the shooting death of 15-year-old Jerry Melvin.

Melvin was shot to death around 3:30 p.m. on July 9 in the 500 block of Umstead Street.

The suspect, whose name is not being released because he is a juvenile, was picked up Tuesday night by Wilmington police officers.

Durham officers went to Wilmington and brought the suspect back to Durham on Wednesday. The suspect has been placed in the Durham County Youth Home.
