DA's Office Yet To Decide Whether Lee County Man Will Face Death

Posted Updated

SANFORD, N.C. — The Lee County district attorney says he needs more time before deciding if he will seek the death penalty in the murder of an 11-year-old boy.

On Tuesday, a Lee County grand jury indicted Victor Gamble on first-degree murder charges. Investigators say Gamble, 20, of Cameron, beat 11-year old Bradley Way to death after breaking into his home last week.

Investigators say they believe Gamble was surprised to find Way in the home.

Gamble is being held in the Lee County Jail without bond.
