Employees At Raeford Plant Receive Pink Slips

Posted Updated

RAEFORD, N.C. — More than 100 workers at a local toiletry company are getting pink slips.

Unilever is phasing out its hair spray division in Raeford. The company makes Thermasilk, Salon Selectives and Suave hair products.

Plant managers plan to contract with other companies for the work. They say it is less expensive and more efficient.

Unilever also makes deodorants and soap. Those divisions are not affected by the layoffs.
