Wake County sheriff's deputies have identified a man found dead on Holland Church Road Tuesday morning.

Larry Lionel Smith, of 1204 Ashton Hollow Drive in Raleigh, was found about 10:30 a.m. He would have been 50 years old on Saturday.

Smith's fiancee, Ravie McFadden, had reported Smith as missing around 8 p.m. Monday. When Smith had not returned home by midnight, the sheriff's office entered him as missing in the National Crime Information Center.

The sheriff's office also had broadcast a notice to area law enforcement to be on the lookout for Smith.

McFadden told deputies she became concerned about Smith when she returned home from work around 6 p.m. Monday. She said Smith's employer had left a message saying that Smith had not come to work that afternoon.

McFadden told deputies she checked with family and friends as well as area hospitals before calling the sheriff's office.

Investigators said there were no obvious signs of foul play. Smith's body has been transported to the medical examiner's office in Chapel Hill to determine the cause of death.
