DURHAM, N.C. — An object resembling a baby's foot found in a pre-packaged box of frozen chicken pieces has been identified as a chunk of dough that apparently had intentionally been shaped to resemble a foot.
The object was taken to the State Medical Examiner's office in Chapel Hill, where it was examined Tuesday morning and found to be dough.
The suspicious looking object was found Monday afternoon in a package of frozen chicken pieces that had been purchased at Lowes Foods in The Village Shopping Center on North Miami Boulevard.
Investigators said the tampering occurred before the package of frozen chicken reached Lowes Foods, adding that the tampering appears to be an isolated incident.
