Campaign Plane Causes Turbulence At RDU Building

RDU INTERNATIONAL, N.C. — A campaign plane that was used in

a recent visit

by Sen. John Kerry and Sen. John Edwards caused some unwanted turbulence at a building near the airport.

Officials said as the Boeing 727 was leaving RDU International over the weekend, the thrust from the plane blew out a window at a building at the airport. The building belongs to Piedmont Hawthorne, who leases hangar space to other companies.

Officials said as many as five Secret Service agents were in the building when the window was blown out. RDU emergency workers treated one person at the scene for minor injuries.

The operator of the plane will be responsible for the price to fix the damage. There is no word yet as to how much the damage will cost.
